The correct venue for these reviews is the eHam Community Forum "Company Reviews". The product reviews is not the correct place for reviews of customer service or companies/dealers/manufacturers. It really helps to see all the settings at a glance, as opposed to button-pushing on the radio to see one at a time.īy the way, G4HFQ's support seems to extend to the various Yaesu groups of Yahoo. A bonus I hadn't realized is that most of the various radio settings (display, scan type, etc.) can also be set up with the software.

I bought the software for the FTM-350R, and it's simplicity itself to use.

I've also used the Maxton USB cable to install Yaesu's firmware upgrades for the FTM-350R. To say that I'm satisfied is a gross understatement. His price for the cable, by the way, including shipping, was about half the cost of buying it at some ham store. What service!Īnd I'm sure many of us have been "saved" by G4HFQ's investigation into which USB cable works best. I received the cable a mere six days later here in the States. I ordered it on a Tuesday, G4HFQ persoanlly tested and shipped the same day. I downloaded the software, but I also ordered the suggested Maxton USB/DIN cable with the high-speed USB chip the same day. I do think that the Commander software is less expensive that the Yeasu/RT systems so that might be the best path to expieriment with. What's even better than the software (and it's great!) is the support and personal touch. I think you would be better off just picking one and trying it out - Get the correct calbe for your radio and yo should be good to go. THe ADMS software is fairly easy to use - its alot like the scanning softwares for my pro-106 meaning if your familiar with object oriented programming for like PSRedit, ARC500 or WIN500 you will feel right at home. as well as capture my radios basic set mode settings. The software interface to my radio ads yet another dimension to my fun - as I can "play" with the organization of my saved freq's tweak the the tags for the frequency names as well as the banks I store them in - and then create different sets of banks, link banks for scanning etc. He does have screen shots at his website G4HFQ Radio Programming Software, and he seems pretty active in coding updates and fixes. I have seen the commander software from G4HFQ and thought about checking it out but I don't have any real experience to talk about. Same as with my scanners I use the software available for them to program and tweak - but I still can do it manually for the same reasons.

Though I've only recently just begun using it as I first wanted to know how to proram the radio on the fly so that if I am somewhere without my computer and cable I could still do it. I use the ADMS (RT Systems programmer RT Systems Radio Programming Software) software for my VX8 for now.
